How peculiar Jean! I had something similar to this in 2009, ESR was over 100 for 6 months but I had no inflammation to speak of ... anywhere! Got sent for all sorts of tests, scans, X-Rays as they were thinking I might have something else and were insistent that the inflammation must be coming from somewhere! Nothing conclusive was found and, what seemed like eventually, the ESR went down again!

After that I started having problems with the neutropenia so was left wondering whether it was all tied up Confused Seems I will never know! Rogue results do happen but ESR and CRP? Very odd!

Think I must have got a chill last week, Doreen. As you know, I'm now bald after the incident with Lyn's scissors at the Oscars. I think the neon diclofenic and tena lady were a wee bit small for me, although they do fit Budgy amazingly well. Budgy - are you OK? Haven't seen you lurking for a while. Hope all is well with you.

During the past 6 months, I have had shingles (still visible) and three chest infections. Now I have YET ANOTHER CHEST INFECTION and really do think it has a lot to do with not only the RA, but other infection as well. I'm off to see Dr Vas tomorrow so hopfully he will shed some light on it!

The infections could be the reason for your high ESR and maybe CRP.
Hope your chest infection gets better soon.

The last time we heard from Budgy she was complaining of strange lumps appearing on her head, reckoned she had been captured by aliens or something.RollEyes RollEyes

I think Julie is busy knitting that Royal Family kit that was advertised in the newspapers - you get a kit and knit all the figures who will be appearing on the balcony of Buck Palace.I reckon that`s what she`s up to.

What on earth has she been drinking this time, Dor? Or could she have knitted some purple wool into something she shouldn't have? She'll have to sort it before the 29th April - she's not sitting next to me in the abbey looking like THAT!

Glenys - lovely to "see" you. Do you remember when we were all being measured up for tassels and Julie said she didn't need them - just a couple of diclofenic and a tena lady? I still laugh at that one!! Hope things are OK with you xxxxx

Hi everyone,

I have been on MTX now for 4 weeks. The first week I had no side effects but started having side effects from the 2nd week on. Initially, I just felt very tired but now on the 4th week and I'm feeling really tired and having stomach cramps.

Can anyone tell me if the side effects eventually wears off or will it get worse every week?

Linda x

Hi Linda

Often the side effects will wear off as your body adapts to the medication. You do need to give it time though, four weeks is very early days. Methotrexate can take about 3 months to get into your system and during that time you may feel several side effects. Bear with it and hopefully the benefits will outweigh the the 'less good' bits.
